
Anthony Opal (b. 1983) is a poet, translator, and editor. His poetry collections include Action (2014), Procession (2020), The Roof Above Our Heads (2021), Another Animal (2023), Tom Waits (2024), and Tape Loops, 2011 (2025), as well as translations of Matsuo Bashō, Yosa Buson, Kobayashi Issa, Masaoka Shiki, Taneda Santōka, Hatano Sōha, and a linguistic survey of the Book of Jonah. His work has appeared in various magazines and journals: Boston Review, Harvard Divinity Bulletin, TriQuarterly, Notre Dame Review, Poetry, and elsewhere. He received an MFA from Northwestern University, winning the 2014 Distinguished Thesis Award, and currently lives in Chicago, IL, where he is Editor of The Economy Press.
