William Carlos Williams famously wrote: “It is difficult / to get the news from poems / yet men die miserably every day / for lack / of what is found there.”

This is true. Poems, stories—these words we write and read—not only preserve life but renew and deepen it. I hold to this as a north star while navigating the daily details of running a press and envisioning what it means to offer readers work that is boundless, surprising, challenging, complex, and life-affirming, as only life and art can be.

To place these existential realities beside financial concerns feels uncomfortable. Yet this is where we are.
